Use iptables - it comes with Linux.  You can create the rules by hand or
there are many tools out there to help you.  This URL might help:

Since you're new to Linux, you may not be familiar with the howto
documents.  They are all located here:  www.tldp.org.  That's always a good
place to look, in addition to just general google-searching.  The bad
thing about books is that they quickly become outdated.
