Is there any need for the shmfs filesystem to be mounted somewhere on a
Linux box these days?  I just realized that I haven't been using it on
my system, with no ill effects (AFAIK).

Also, I thought I'd seen that there was another filesystem that you
could (or should) use instead.  Is that true?
