10baseT uses 2 twisted pair, that is four wires 2 for data in and two for data
out.  You can connect 2 ethernet interfaces without a hub by reversing these
pairs.   I'll be amazed if you are abled to connect 2 to 1 with a Y
connector.  My guess is
you'll screw up the signal clocking.
