Debian [1] is obscure?  There ARE ways of installing Debian in a less
"obscure" manner, such as installing with Libranet [2].  Anyway, I'm
more for starting people out on the "right" foot. ;-)  Debian is
definitely the way to go, but that's a biased opinion from someone who
works with it on a daily basis.

To read up on the different releases of Debian, you can visit links [3]
and [4].  The installation instructions for the 'stable' release are at
