The virtual environment (memory included) is contained in a series of text
based configuration files. The VMware application creates these when the
guest OS is installed. Note: You are constrained by the physical memory
properites of the box, and how much memory is allocated to the host OS.

is there any rule of thumb for how much memory to allocate to guest
OS of vmware?  can someone explain how vmware allocates the memory
to the guest OS?  thanks.
