Ack!  That solution is worse than the problem.

Here's my attempt: everyone who uses mutt (or other similarly
enlightened MUAs) should have a signature just for TCLUG lists.
To set the signature you just need a line like below in your
muttrc:
send-hook "~t tclug.*@mn-linux.org" set signature="~/.sig_tclug"
