I like lprng as a print spooler, and then use magicfilterconfig to write
you a /etc/printcap file.  I confess that's a Debian default, but I'd
venture that there are rpm's for the same.  You could also use apsfilter
instead of magicfilter.

I think there's a Priting-HOWTO at www.linuxdoc.org, but their down for
some maintenance at the moment.
