Well since everyone else has an opinion on the matter I will definately agree 
that an AT pws does not need anything other than AC power. I would suspect 
that running it without a load is not the best thing in the world, but it 
does work. I have done it many times. In fact I have a tattoo on my leg that 
was powered by, you guessed it an AT pws.
ATX on the other hand will want some maninpulation before you use it without 
a mainboard, however, anything is possible. This is not micro$oft 
developement.
