I'm pretty sure IRIX lets you do something similar -- you can open an ftp
site on your desktop.  In this sort of drag and drop scenario, I think you
could do the same thing in Linux userspace.  But maybe there's a reason
that you want to do a lower level mount thing?  Is this for command line /
user ease of use, or is there an application (or would be app) involved?
