I have been messing around with various nics lately. What I have found to 
work best  is this scenario.
/sbin/modprobe modname io=0x200
/sbin/modprobe modname io=0x210
repeat until you get no error
same works in modules.conf 
I think the card is better identified by its i/o resource. IRQ's 
generally fall into a range i/o addresses not the other way around.
