I am interested in setting up a web site that addresses the advantages of hiring entry level people in Linux/Unix positions within companies. This information will be useful to companies that are considering generating positions for entry level admins but are uncertain what kind of advantages and disadvantages are involved.

Is there anyone here on the list who can offer any insight to the following questions:

1) Have you found hiring entry level *nix employees advantageous?

2) What kind of positions do you generally hire them into?

3) Does the fact that they are being trained in your specific environment for the first time help ensure that they do not have to 'unlearn' wrong things that were taught at other companies?

Any other insight you have for employers considering generating entry level Linux/Unix people would be helpful.

   Thanks for your time.
