Okay, I'm lost. I'm trying to recompile a kernel (potato
2.2.18-pre21-compact) because I've installed a CD-RW in the box and I
need to override ATAPI, and use SCSI emulation. So, I've tried to do
this, but I got a tar.bz2 file: what do I do with this? I tried tar
-xvf and that didn't seem to work. (I already have kernel-package
downloaded, btw).

I also tried Google, but everyone seems to have assumed that I got a
good package downloaded. So, anybody have any hints for me?

Thanks.
