Sure, I have a 6400.  Works great.  3ware officially supports RedHat and
SuSE, but you can get the source for the driver as well and patch your
kernel against it.  They're incredibly fast cards.  I have 4 ata-100 45 GB
IBM GXP drives on mine...  it's damned fast :)
