You can change its properties to be, e.g., 500 lines long, which will let you
extend it to the height of your screen and give you a scrollback capability.
I've also been able to do the same with CygWin's bash window.

I can't give you more datails, as this was all done at my former place of
employment and, unfortunately (yeah, right...), I no longer have access to
an NT box.
