I'm told 2.4.7-ac4 has ext3 support.

ext3 has the advatage that (I believe) it's fairly straightforward to covert
between ext2/ext3. I know you can mount ext3; with old ext2 tools (it just
won't have journalling). I think it may be possible to convert ext2->ext3
without reformatting, as well.

I'm certainly going to give it a try; next kernel build. :)
