The installer is being redesigned from the ground up, apparently.
It's going to be more modular and rely on stuff like framebuffer VGA,
etc.  They're also planning on writing a stripped down 'C' version of
dpkg for the sole purpose of installing the base packages, packages
that have been checked for dependency compliance manually and
determined to be essential to booting a bare-bones Debian system.
