Thanks again, group, for giving me a dope slap. My scanner was working before I put the MO drive between it and my computer, so of course I didn't consider that it had no terminator on it... and of course, there was none. The MO drive works just great now (from WinX), so it's time to repartition my drive for Linux. It's going to be tricky because my drive is on a SCSI card (Adaptec 2100S) that has no driver on the boot floppy. Fun! Chris
