I recently picked up an IBM Thinkpad 360ce for a very
low price, and now I'm trying to get Smackware or OpenBSD
installed, but I've got a major problem with my ethernet
card. It's a Linksys 10/100 pcmcia, and both installs
recognize it correctly, however I can't get it out onto the
network.
I've tried it at two locations using hubs and cables
I know are good, and this is my second 10/100 card just in
case the original was the problem. Boxes on the network
can ping to the laptop, but the pings don't actually make
it back to the sender. The thinkpad itself though just can't
get out and it's really starting to irritate me. Has anyone
had a similar problem or have any idea as to what this could
be? For reference purposes, on my local network the pc had
an ip of 192.168.1.1, netmask 255.255.255.0. The laptop is
192.168.1.2, same netmask of course.
