The slack PCMCIA thing seemed to be a real pain when I tried it. I believe I had to boot with a boot/root combo and then use the supplementary PCMCIA disk...you just type "pcmcia" after you login as root and it'll prompt you for the disk. That's new since Slack4 or something.
