This is an ‘unofficial’ job posting from the future manager.

Our company is finally growing to the point of requiring a dedicated
help desk person. Job requires no particular expertise, except for the
demonstrated abilities to:

1) Solve any problem: Every IT problem has a solution. You must be able to
work independently and have the persistence to see problems through to
their resolution.
2) Enjoy making people's computer work experience pleasant.

Initially required skills include basic networking and computer software
and hardware knowledge. (We are also looking at AAS candidates). The
broader your experience and exposure to different areas, the better.
Demonstrating good organizational skills doesn't hurt, either.

What you will learn: Network management. Server management (Microsoft
SBS Server and Gnu/Linux). Database administration. Application
development. Security. Hardware selection and purchasing. End user
software Applications (Multiple; Office suites, Gold Mine, Microsoft
Dynamics, UPS Worldship, etc., etc., etc.). Tons more.

Benefits: Listen, the pay is unlikely to be great. You get a good crew
to work with (at least we think so). You will be salaried from the
start. You are encouraged to demonstrate independence and initiative,
which come with the flexibility of being salaried. Of course, the other
standard benefits apply, such as company matched retirement
contributions, health and dental insurance, blah, blah, blah. Our human
resources person has all the gory details. Please remit salary
requirements with correspondence.
