Sr. Unix Administrator Opening - 4 months contract to hire in South
suburbs

 

Essential Duties - 

 

'            Configure and tune operating systems. 

'            Sr. Unix admin proficiency in AIX. 

'            LPAR/vLPAR experience. 

'            Perform complex problem analysis. 

'            Participate in 24/7 support rotation. 

'            Provide documentation that will allow others to support an
application running on UNIX. 

'            Able to troubleshoot and resolve problems in a UNIX
environment. 

'            Install OS upgrades/patches and managed hardware upgrades
and capacity.  

 

Requirements -

'            Bachelors degree in related discipline or combination of
education and experience. 

'            7 to 10 years UNIX systems support experience. 

'            Ability to provide problem analysis and system tuning
enhancements to a UNIX operating environment. 

'            Understands how to configure and support DNS, NIS, NFS,
TCP/IP. 

'            NIM and VIO Server experience. 

'            Experience with mass storage systems (e.g., IBM-ESS,
SAN/NAS). 

 

Experience with any of the following is a plus:  Websphere Application
Server (WAS), Websphere Portal Server (WPS), WebSphere Interchange
Server (WICS), WebSphere Commerce Server (WCS), Websphere Business
Integrator (WBI) and/or Rational Clearcase.  

 

Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills,
creativity, problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated success working
in a team environment.  Must understand process management, be able to
manage multiple priorities, and provide excellent customer service.
